Singapore Blog Awards 2014: Please Vote For Us
I Am So Thrilled To Be Selected. Thank you 🙂
The Singapore Blog Awards 2014 organisers announced the Top Ten finalists for each blogging Categories on 04 July 2014. I am in the Top Ten finalist in the Best Individual Blog. That’s the reason why I am so so thrilled. This post is for me to thank all of you for the support since I started this Retire-Do What? blog. And now, more than ever, I must count on you to help me get the 30% in the score to win. This 30% depends on the daily Facebook from you and all your buddy friends. Towards the end of this post, I have added “How-to” screen shots for you to vote 🙂
My trekking friend Simon Chan is also a Top Ten finalist in the Best New Blog. He blogs about travel for the adventurous souls in Travelled Paths. We have decided to enter this competition together so that we can encourage each other along the way. And now we are into our journey of getting votes together.
The 7th Singapore Blog Awards 2014
Entries for the 7th Singapore Blog Awards 2014 closed at 3.00pm on 19th June 2014. It is a date of importance for more than one reason. For the first time, I entered my Retire – Do What? blog for the Awards. And the date was my 39th wedding anniversary.
The Awards 2014 has three main choices – and I entered my Retire – Do What? blog in the Editors’ / Judges’ Choice within Best Individual Blog category. After the closing, I counted that there were 968 blog entries for this Editors’ / Judges’ Choice section alone, of which 160 were in the Best Individual Blog category. Well, there would be lots of work for the judges. The Blog Awards 2014 have attracted an overwhelming response and the competition hots up.
Likewise, Simon Chan’s entry is also his first. His blog, Travelled Paths, is relatively new – but he has this passion for trekking and adventure for a long time. Even though his Best New Blog category is a new for this blog awards, there were 97 entries.
A Word Of Thanks To The Judges
Having been on the other side of the fence before, I know that the team of judges had to work very hard too. They had just 2 weeks i.e. between 20th June to 03 July to complete the judging. In addition they had to work within their busy schedules and other commitments. From me, Simon Chan and the other contestants, we say a big “Thank You.” 🙂
I Am Thrilled To Be Selected A Top Ten Finalist In The Best Individual Blog Category!
For those of us who have worked hard in submitting our entries, yesterday – the 4th of July – was the moment of truth. I must admit that I was thrilled to learn that I was selected a Top Ten Finalist in my chosen category – The Best Individual Blog category. The organisers has defined the category as:
Blogs with a unique voice and character that portray the author’s individuality, regardless of topics.
A full 30% of the judging to win The Best Individual Blog category must now, according to the Blog Awards 2014 criteria, comes from the votes that I can gather daily from Facebook. And that means from you and those of your buddy friends. But I am competing against many young people in their 20s and early 30s! They are born into Social Media! Not me! I take at least twice the time which they would take in using social media.
We believe we can count on you.
Allow me to show you How To Vote with the screen shots that I have prepared. To my young friends, please don’t get offended with the details and the screen shots. There are many friends like me who need to be guided on the voting process 🙂

Hi Steven,
Congrats in being selected as a finalist in the SG Blog Awards! I can see that you are doing well so far! 🙂
Just found out like your wedding anniversary is the same date as us too (ours is 10th anniversary this year), so it was an important date to us as well lol. We are also very happy to have been selected as a finalist for the Best Travel Blog category too!
So keep up the good work and all the best ahead!
Hi Vin,
Greetings and my congratulations to you too. As 19th June was when this year’s Singapore Blog Awards closed, I am sure your anniversary dinner was more relaxing.
Thank you for reaching out to me and may I wish you all the best for the rest of this exciting period of voting. It’s like the World Cup’s penalty shootout.
