We travel for many reasons – visiting friends and relatives, making new friends, discovering new places, sampling local foods, fulfilling our dreams & bucket list, taking up a new job, going for further studies…and the list go on.
For my trip to Siem Reap, I set out to visit the world famous Angkor Wat and to educate myself on Cambodia, taste its local food and meet its hard-working people. I learnt that 85 per cent of the 12 million Cambodians engage in farming – with rice growing as its main stay.
Often times, with serendipity, I chanced upon stories that are memorable. Like this romantic story about Valerie Howe, more well known as Miss Wong, the name adopted by a cocktail bar in Siem Reap near the Pub Street.
