Singapore Nurses Day At NUH
Voting in the Singapore Blog Awards 2014 ended at 3.00 pm on 31 July. The 28 days of getting friends, and their friends, to vote finally took its toll. Since then I was saying thank you to friends who had voted. There are silent voters too and they know I would have liked to thank them personally too. There is a group of people I must thank too – the nurses.
In Singapore the Nurses Day is celebrated on 01 August. For most other countries, the International Nurses Day is celebrated on the 12th of May of each year. Whichever is the date, I salute the work nurses do and their contributions to society.
Earlier today I posted on my Facebook Timeline this “Happy Nurses Day” photo taken with the people I meet for a minor treatment there often. On the Facebook post I wrote “Amidst the noise, the impatience and the rising expectations that you face daily in your noble profession, carry on. Picture shows : With my lovely and helpful nurses at Derma @ NUH. Would be nice if we had Dr. Lee in the pix.”
The 2014 International Nurses Day’s Theme is “Nurses: A Force for Change – A vital resource for health.” Indeed it is, for as the population in Singapore and many other countries age, who do we turn to? Nurses of course. Next year in 2015 SG marches on to its 5oth anniversary, let us march with our nurses .
