Why Follow? Do Something New

Do Something New…

Yes, a resounding yes! Why just follow? Do something new. Pablo Picasso would most probably be just another artist, but for his breaking the prevailing rules about what paintings should be. Leonardo Da Vinci gave the world his Mona Lisa because he had observed that men of accomplishment do not sit back and let things happen to them. Da Vinci decided to do something new by going out and “happened to things.”

Break All Rules…

In the area of creativity, break all rules – barring those that violate the law and religion. I believe there is always something new to accomplish in each of our lives. You may not be a Picasso or even a Da Vinci, but you still can try something new. That is exactly what Alexa Meade, the political science graduate-turned-artist did with her new way of painting portraits. Enjoy her “Your Body Is My Canvas” talk on TED.

In the fast changing world of technology, how do we do something new? How can we create something new when there are nothing to copy from and to follow? Think about the iPhones and the iPads from Apple

Ask Steve Jobs

“Creativity is just connecting things. When you ask creative people how they did something, they feel a little guilty because they didn’t really do it, they just saw something. It seemed obvious to them after a while. That’s because they were able to connect experiences they’ve had and synthesize new things.”

You Were Born To Stand Out…

The fear of failure is often the number one reason why we refuse to try new things. So we move out of our comfort zone, conquer it, starve it out and move into our power spot. Then we do not have to look back in our later years and regret sadly what could and should have been. Said Dr. Seuss, “Why fit in when you were born to stand out.”
