Singapore Blog Awards 2014 | Vote Retire – Do What? As Best Individual Blog

Singapore Blog Awards 2014 – Voting In The Final Lap

Voting in the Singapore Blog Awards 2014 is into its final lap whilst the other organisers are revving up the forthcoming 2014 Formula 1 Singapore Airlines Singapore Grand Prix. There’s some coincidence here really. Retire – Do What? is my first entry in the Blog Awards. Singapore Airlines (SIA) is, for the first time, the title sponsor of the  F1®  races in Singapore.

Product PR , Brand & Reputation

That aside, I spent 30 exciting years with the great airline, both in Singapore and overseas, earning my keep and playing my part to help brand the airline. As a champion of product PR and brand positioning, I had capitalised on every opportunity to showcase the SIA brand whilst I was assigned overseas. Never mind the detractors, I salute the current SIA management which is re-positioning (re-polishing too I guess) its brand image by taking title sponsorship with F1®. Brand and reputation, once eroded or tarnished, take far greater sums of money to restore. Worse, they allow competitors to catch up and even overtake you.

Retire – Do What? Bridging The Gen Y- Pioneer Gen Gap

Just as SIA is especially pleased to be doing so with events in the lead-up to Singapore’s 50th birthday in 2015, I do hope that (on a personal level) my Retire – Do What? can do the same. Across Singapore, people of my “Pioneer Generation” are pondering how we can adapt and replicate the success of the nation’s first 50 years. With the prestigious badge of recognition as winner in the Best Individual Blog category, I aim to continue work on achieving the twin objectives of my blog, viz :

(1) To encourage Youths to improve their Resilience Quotient so that they can face the 2 dreaded Rs – Retrenchment and unplanned Retirement with confidence, and

(2) To encourage the senior Boomers adopt “Active Ageing” to Learn, Unlearn & Relearn so that they continue to experience the Joy and the Game of Life.

To earn the badge of Best Individual Blog in this Blog Awards 2014, Retire – Do What? and I will need your votes and support.
