From Star Dropout To Legend

The examples of the school and college dropouts whom I had featured in my two recent posts : 'Only One Good Reason to Drop Out of College' and 'Favourite School Dropout Entrepreneur' – were inspirations. Each dropout mentioned in the posts had a choice, but not so for Norma Jeanne.

With great candour and courage, she spilled the secrets of her abused childhood for the readers of TIME in 1956 by telling them about her illegitimate birth, her mentally unstable and financially unable mother and about being shuttled through many foster homes.
