Because I Can | A New World Record

No Limits…

Just three little words, ‘Because I Can’ sum up the attitude and the unshakeable confidence of the man who values ‘powering-up’ yourself by championing the idea of  ‘No Limits’ in your personal life. I had the privilege of knowing this man since April 2011 in Rancho Santa Fe, half way round the world from where I now live, in Singapore. In talks to corporations, he advocates the value of powering up their brands and promotes the idea of ‘No Limits’ too.

A New World Record…

By summiting  Carstensz Pyramid (Puncak Jaya), Werner Berger has just set a world record. This is how Heshie, Werner’s better half, shared the news on Facebook.

“I am so overwhelmed – there are tears rolling down my cheeks. I just got the news!! HE DID IT!!! Werner Berger reached the SUMMIT OF CARSTENSZ PYRAMID – he is now the oldest person in the WORLD to have climbed the seven Summits- the Climber’s SEVEN – he is 76 years old – he is such an inspiration to every person on earth!! YIPPEE! He has broken the record!! If you cannot tell, I am so excited!!! Please help spread the word.” Yes Heshie – right away 🙂

More Than An Encore…

Now I can fully understand why the proposed name Encore 712 is not so correct. On May 22nd, 2007 at 8.08 am Nepalese-time Werner realized his dream and stood on top of the world, the summit of Mount Everest. In doing so, he became the oldest American then to achieve the Seven Summits. The taller and of course much tougher Carstenz Pyramid (vs Mount Kosciuszko in Australia) is included in the Climber’s Seven. His next mission Quest 712 is more than an encore.

Quest 712…

Werner is set on a mission to achieve Quest 712 where he will summit the tallest mountain in each of the seven continents within 12 months. His quest begins in May 2014 with Mt. McKinley (aka Denali) and ends in May 2015 with Mt. Everest. The others will be spaced in between.

For A Friend…

Opportunities for sponsorship and donation support are still available at the website Quest712.com. Kindly note that this is NOT a sponsored post. LOL as my Gen Y readers will say. I am just doing it for a friend I admire and respect and I think he will inspire my readers here at Retire – Do What? Who will not be? ~ Werner is now 76 years old, and still believe in ‘No Limits’.
