Something of Value Movie

Something Of Value, What’s Yours?

Something Of Value…

Monday mornings. Some of us enjoy them whilst many more are likely to find the Monday blues. Life has its many ups and downs, but over the span of our life, what is that something of value that each of us has been searching for? I am sure that each of us has our story to tell and a legacy to leave behind. In my early teen, my friend PH and I had decided, rather reluctantly, to spend our last couple of dollars to go and watch the black-and-white movie (all new movies were in colour then) "Something Of Value". Over the years, I learnt that there were so many differing views on how life should be lived. Looking back it must have been the movie's title that, subconsciously, has influenced me. My advice is to be present and live your life now, find the courage to learn and do new things of value – to yourself, your family, your friends and your community at large.

At The End Of Our Time…

Few things in probability theory are as certain as the end of our time, not in the chronological sense, but as an outcome. All things must come to past, so must the material things, fame and glory many of us had strived to accumulate. Linger awhile and contemplate what Max Lucado has wisely said : “When you are in the final days of your life, what will you want? Will you hug that college degree in the walnut frame? Will you ask to be carried to the garage so you can sit in your car? Will you find comfort in rereading your financial statement? Of course not. What will matter then will be people. If relationships will matter most then, shouldn’t they matter most now?”

Value Of Relationships…

In gatherings of friends, specifically during reunions and wakes, regrets that are often expressed include not spending enough time with a parent, spouse, children, relatives and friends. Few people will regret not having another award or medal  or more material stuff. Brian Dyson, a former CEO of Coca Cola, shared a valuable Life Lesson in telling us that life is juggling five balls in the air. These balls represent work, family, health, friends and spirit … and you’re keeping all of them in the air.

There's Still Time…

Before the end of our life, and even before that when we have the time to look back and use our second chance. We can discover and build something of value for us to leave our legacy. Let's make it happen.
