Journey to Machu Picchu, Part 1

Journey to Machu Picchu, Part 1

Here’s some interesting photos taken from my trip to Machu Picchu on 21 July 2012 along with six other friends from the US and Canada. Our team leader, Werner Berger, has always been a great inspiration to us.  On May 22nd, 2007, Werner realized his dream and stood on top of the world, the summit of Mount Everest. At that time, he was the oldest North American to have stood atop the summit of Mount Everest.

The Intihuatana is the carved rock pillar by which the Incas were able to predict the solstices.

Temple of the Sun is the only round wall building in Machu Picchu.. Be amazed by the finest Inca stonework skills.

Machu Picchu. This is the classic postcard shot of the site.
